Crossover from Weak- to Strong-Coupling Superconductivity and to Normal State with Pseudogap

چکیده

For an electron gas with a δ-function attraction we investigate the crossover from weak-coupling to strong-coupling superconductivity near zero temperature as well as near the temperature T , at which the strong coupling produces a pseudogap in the energy spectrum due to the binding of electron pairs. We present curves for the behavior of the superconductive transition temperature, the gap formation temperature, and the gap size as a function of coupling strength and temperature, both in two and three dimensions. The results should be useful for interpreting experimental data in underdoped and optimally doped cuprates.

Strong coupling superconductivity, pseudogap, and Mott transition.

An intricate interplay between superconductivity, pseudogap, and Mott transition, either bandwidth driven or doping driven, occurs in materials. Layered organic conductors and cuprates offer two prime examples. We provide a unified perspective of this interplay in the two-dimensional Hubbard model within cellular dynamical mean-field theory on a 2×2 plaquette and using the continuous-time quant...

Pairing Mechanism for the High-TC Superconductivity: Symmetries and Thermodynamic Properties

The pairing mechanism for the high-Tc superconductors based on the electron-phonon (EPH) and electron-electron-phonon (EEPH) interactions has been presented. On the fold mean-field level, it has been proven, that the obtained s-wave model supplements the predictions based on the BCS van Hove scenario. In particular: (i) For strong EEPH coupling and T < T(C) the energy gap (Δtot) is very weak te...

Giant superconducting fluctuations in the compensated semimetal FeSe at the BCS–BEC crossover

The physics of the crossover between weak-coupling Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) and strong-coupling Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) limits gives a unified framework of quantum-bound (superfluid) states of interacting fermions. This crossover has been studied in the ultracold atomic systems, but is extremely difficult to be realized for electrons in solids. Recently, the superconducting semime...

Hetero-pairing and pseudogap phenomena in an ultracold Fermi gas with mass imbalance

We investigate strong-coupling properties of a unitary Fermi gas consisting of two different species with different masses. Including pairing fluctuations within the self-consistent T -matrix approximation, we calculate the single-particle density of states in the normal state. We show that the pseudogap phenomenon, which is characterized by a dip structure in the density of states around ω = 0...

Nuclear Superconductivity in Compact Stars: Bcs Theory and Beyond

This chapter provides a review of microscopic theories of pairing in nuclear systems and neutron stars. Special attention is given to the mean-field BCS theory and its extensions to include effects of polarization of the medium and retardation of the interactions. Superfluidity in nuclear systems that exhibit isospin asymmetry is studied. We further address the crossover from the weak-coupling ...
